Providing supportive care and advocacy for families and pets in our community

As an Animal control officer, our founder Blythe Terwillinger Jackson recognized the needs of the people in our small community and formed Friends of Mebane's Animals in 2013. Originally, she just wanted to be able to provide pet food for those who were struggling financially and she got a few people together that wanted to help. Her vision quickly grew into an organization which now provides fences, dog houses, spay and neuter subsidies, pet foods, vet care assistance, along with many other services.
Friends of Mebane's Animals was originally formed to help those in the Mebane community, however, with so many in need, we quickly outgrew Mebane and now serve clients in all of Alamance and portions of the surrounding counties. Through our partnerships with Burlington Animal Services, the Humane Society of Alamance County, and many of the local rescue groups, we are able to help more people and their pets. Our goal is to allow pet owners to keep their pets, lessening the burden on the shelter and rescue groups. By providing these much needed services, that can some times be beyond the reach of pet owners who are low income or have fallen on hard times, pet surrender and abandonment are greatly reduced. Unfortunately, there are times when a client just can not keep their pet(s) and in those cases, we are there to help advocate and put them in touch with organizations that can help.
As much as we would love to help everyone that contacts us, funds are just not available to help in every situation at this time. If you are in need and do not meet our criteria or live outside of our service area, please see our resources page for more organization that may be able to offer support.
